MACtac IMAGin
TECHNICAL DATA SHEET LF3900
Self-adhesive products especially designed
for full-colour short-run digital printing.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

LF 3998 and LF 3999 are soft 80 μ stabilized PVC coated on one side with a clear acrylic pressure sensitive permanent adhesive.
LF 3998 : matt clear
LF 3999 : gloss clear
The adhesive is protected with a moisture stable white paper liner, easy to remove.

TYPICAL USES:

IMAGin Laminating Films 3998 and LF 3999 are designed for overlaminating and protecting large and medium size digital prints (inkjet solvent based, inkjet water based, e-stat). LF 3900 laminated onto electrostatic prints permits the humid transfer of the toners. Suitable for interior and exterior environments, LF 3900 helps retard colour fading caused by U.V. light exposure. LF 3900 provides a uniform, matt (LF 3998) or gloss (LF 3999) surface to the prints as well as protection against potential damages such as scratching or friction, liquid spoilage, etc. LF 3900 does not influence the pH level of substrate to which it is applied.

TEMPERATURE RANGES:

Application : + 5°C to + 40°C
End-use : - 30°C to + 70°C
N.B : for temperatures outside those quoted above, please consult us.

FLAMMABILITY:

Self-extinguishing (sample mounted on aluminium).

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE:

Resistant to short periods of immersion in water and short contact with detergents, alcohol and some aliphatic solvents. Not recommended for use in contact with ketones, esters, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons. For further technical advice, please consult us.

SHELF LIFE:

2 years when stored at 15 to 25°C and ± 50 % relative humidity (in the original packaging).

DURABILITY:

LF 3900 will give satisfactory performance for up to 5 years. The durability does not relate to the colours of the prints but only to the film. Note : These end-use life estimates are based on accelerated ageing studies and outdoor exposure, under conditions experienced in vertical exposure and in ″normal″ temperate climates. Exposure to severe humidity and ultraviolet light, as in southern European countries, and also in tropical, sub-tropical or desert regions, will cause a more rapid deterioration. This also applies to polluted areas, high altitude and south-facing exposure.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Where exposure to chemicals, solvents or high pressure water hoses is envisaged, it is recommended to seal the edges of the prints with varnish or silicone in order to avoid penetration of these liquids.
Where possible, always test the proposed construction under actual application and end-use conditions because a 100 % multi-purpose adhesive for all substrates does not exist.
